Lost Post About Self-Harm.

The human race has to deal with life and death flowing together. They are two separate tributaries with find themselves mixed together to the point they are indistinguishable from each other. We have fought against the one to extend the other. Yet there are those who feel that it is not worth preserving. They maximise escapism by concluding their lives early and by their own hand. In a second they can extinguish what took 9 months to complete and a further 18 - 21 years to fully develop.

A common motif for those who feel that self- harm and suicide are the best option are those who are 'emotional stunted'. It is not to say they are in some way cognitively impaired, but rather that they are overly developed. Those sensitive to emotional stimulus can lead to the mind succumbing to the emotional pressures put on it. The cerebral cortex is designed for survival and the propagation of the species; so why then does it allow us to self-destruct?

The sensation of love may be the answer. It is the subject of more literary works and time consuming contempation than anything else. It can be the pallet with which we create the most beautiful images and ideas, or the drive to destroy and kill. However, with this power comes great responsibility. It is our duty to control and contain this emotion so that it doesn't lead to ruin. The issue then lays in our development from an early age. We develop physically, mentally, and more crucially our emotional faculties. The last there is the most difficult to nurture and influence. Each individual will create their own emotional intelligence in their own fashion to suite their environment. The independence which comes with this may very well lead to individually tailored emotional responses.

Whatever the result of life's fickle truths, we are all emotionally indebted to the world, and should as a result refrain from self blame.
